jason . ### . hope this works!well, it certainly wasn't bad for life after death. what she could surmise about things thus far was as follows: a., she could do this neat little hover thing if she really focused on it, and b., she had little iridescent green wings on her back! the things you least expected out of life, right?
but for all it was worth, she was sad she had died so young. she didn't get to experience a lot of things - like college. she'd just been accepted into one the summer that she died. and now she was here, doing the same exact thing. enrolling in college wasn't as exciting the second time around, but who was she to complain?
stepping into club, cassidy took a quick glance around before moving to the bar. it was the most familiar place, after all - in all of the pubs and taverns she'd gone too in her life before, none of them looked nearly as high-class as this. there had been house parties, sure, and one time they'd had a bonfire at the abandoned shack nearby, but that was as thrilling as things got.
"can i buy you a drink?" a man asked her, leaning up against the bar. her gaze flickered over to him, and she lean up to reply over the noise of the music.
"none of your smooth talk or flattery could get me to drink with you," she informed him quite plainly, "because it doesn't look like you could hold back your whiskey if you tried."
the man pulled back, uncertain and insulted, and before he could say anything else, cassidy turned back to the bar tender and ordered herself something brisk to get her started. she waved a hand dismissively at the man, who'd already clearly decided that she wasn't worth the effort of she wasn't going to fall for his charms off the bat.
no great loss.

All I want is what I can't buy nowCause I ain't got the money on me right now- - - - - - - - - - - There was nothing quite like a dance floor at a club. Perhaps it was the atmosphere that was different with all the other bodies moving around to the throbbing beat of the music that could easily control a heart rate. It was easy to dance anywhere, location wasn't always the most important thing when dancing. For Jason though the dance floor in a club felt like home, or the closest place he had to home after he had ended up in the Dirge. Paparazzi had been his go to place from the very beginning all those months ago when he had first arrived in the Dirge. Even to this point it hadn't failed him yet so he saw no reason to leave it to find somewhere new. The house parties were only so-so compared to the club and although there were usually plenty of drunks meandering around it was always fun, at least to him. As he moved with the rhythm of the music, making sure to keep his wings tucked against his back so as not to get injured by another dancer, he knew a song change was coming up and decided it was time to grab a drink and so he began dancing his way towards the bar knowing that his drink would be ready and waiting for him. There were perks to frequenting the same place.
As he approached the bar he spotted some poor sap walking away after likely being rejected by the blonde that Jason saw straight ahead. Someone didn't know how to have fun, although the question was really who. Walking up next to the blonde Jason waved his hand in the air for a moment, grabbing the bartender's attention for which he received a nod, before he sat himself down. "You're going to be swatting flies away all night." he joked to the blonde as he waited for his drink.

jason . ### . it was great <3 .she wasn't really planning on letting anyone but her drinks that evening. the problem was that a lot of guys expected something once you bought them a drink, and she wasn't necessarily the kind of lass who was easily wooed. call it pride, or vanity, or whatever it pleased you, but she found her discerning taste in men to have proven less than suitable in the past, and so kept her reservations all the more carefully guarded.
when the bartender slid her shot across the table, she responded with pleasant thanks and an artfully practiced smile. sure, she hadn't always been so careful with who she chose to spend her evenings with - and at the very least, her past mishap had at least been with the boy who was, at the time, her boyfriend - but this was a second chance anyway, and she didn't need any more scares like she'd had before. could people even get pregnant in the dirge? she didn't want to find out.
when a boy commented on the fact that she'd be fighting them off all night, she put her empty shot glass down on the counter and offered him a dry smile.
"there are plenty other ladies in here to suit their time," cassidy replied with amusement, waving for another shot from the bartender. the whiskey was nice and smooth, and offered a pleasant burn as it went down her throat that spread warmth through her body. "none of them could even beat me in a drinking contest - they only wanted to tell me of the 'joys a pair of fine eyes in a pretty face could bestow', in so many words."
the reference was to her favorite book, pride and prejudice, and she snorted a little and thanked the bartender again for her second drink, looking back at the boy. so, was he a fly? she couldn't tell yet.
"i'm cassidy driscoll," she offered. "and you are?"

All I want is what I can't buy nowCause I ain't got the money on me right now- - - - - - - - - - - In all honesty Jason wasn't expecting a response from the girl, if anything perhaps a shrug of her shoulders before attempting to blow him off which wouldn't have mattered much to him considering he wasn't at the bar for her. "So you're not one of those ladies." he replied with a smirk before he downed his own drink that the bartender had served him. The taste was familiar, although he couldn't name it off of the top of his head. He liked to have the same drinks but insisted on the bar tender giving whatever they thought would work for the evening. That was one little way to keep things interesting in the Dirge for him. "Ah, so you're a drinker then?" he questioned, all ready noting that she had taken two shots but that didn't inform him as to whether or not she could actually hold her drink. Liking to drink was one thing, being able to drink was another. "I'm not sure half the guys in here could even recite that." he said as he looked around the club for a moment before looking back at her, "Including myself."
The phrase sounded like something from a book or a poem, something he would probably know if he ever spent any time in school and actually paid attention to what was being taught. That was beside the point, considering he didn't need memorized lines to help him make friends or get a girl. "Jason Hadridge. Welcome to the Dirge." he replied, "I suppose we need a drinking contest, considering none of these flies in here would stand a chance. Trust me, half of them can barely handle a beer before they're down and out for the count." Now that sounded like fun, drinking for the hell of it while competing in a contest. That gave his drinking a purpose, not that it ever needed one. The question was whether or not Cassidy was game.
