She hadn't felt this happy in a very long while, and to be honest, there was only a few people that made her this happy. One of those people was Desmond. Desmond Tatum Thorton. He had that effect on her, and it was rare, but here she was feeling like a five year old on Christmas. Des had been like an older brother to her, and most of all, he'd made her feel at home when she had died. Autumn almost felt like she may have been lost and distraught even now if it weren't for him. She was eternally grateful for him. He made her feel safe and she always had fun when she was with him.
And though Autumn loved Desmond dearly, she couldn't give him all of the credit for her state of excitement. She was meeting his puppies for the first time, and c'mon, who didn't love puppies. They were fun and playful, and Autumn had always wanted a pet. Of course her parents being her parents never let her get anything more than a fish. She tried to argue that having a pet was essential to growing up, but they just shut her out. They told her it was cause a mess and Autumn wouldn't be able to take care of it. She kept trying to convince them, but eventually they snapped at her and told her no was no and that they'd had enough of her nagging. She knew it was best to give up, but something inside her had always wanted a puppy.
Pacing her dorm, Autumn waited for Des to text her back. Her phone beeped and she quickly unlocked it to read the message. I'd love it too and I'm sure the pups would love to meet you. And I'll be free in a little less than an hour. You can come over to my apartment if you'd like. And thought no one was around to hear it (except for maybe someone walking in the dorm hallway), Autumn let out a cheer. She had nothing to do for the next week, and she was bored. Besides, puppies! And Des! Des and puppies! Autumn really wasn't sure if it could get any better. She was almost certain it couldn't. She just had to kill sometime until he was free. Time couldn't have moved any slower. She trie cleaning her dorm room, changing her outfit. She even tried watching an episode of How I Met Your Mother. But she was honestly too excited to focus on How I Met You Mother, so just just laid on the couch and thought about all of the fun that they were going to have.
Finally, Autumn got the okay to come over. She pulled on her boots and rushed out the door. She wandered through the streets, looking for the right street name. Of course she knew where he lived, it was important to her that she knew. If she ever needed comforting, company, anything, she knew she could pop over and wait for him to come home. Also, she needed his address if she ever wanted to send him gifts. For Autumn, it was just comforting to know where she could go if she ever needed someone. After a few more minutes, she found his apartment. She honestly couldn't be more excited.
Autumn knocked on his door, "Hello? Hello? Excuse me? I heard I could find a very dapper gentleman and some puppies here?"

Making himself better. He was getting a bit more fit so that he wasn't as weak as he was before. He was going out for jogs in the mornings and would work out every other day. And no, he wasn't huge like a body builder and he didn't want to be. He had some muscle and that was fine with him. He was also very busy now. He would go to his classes, do his work, take care of the pups, go to auditions, go to rehearsals and finally take care of himself. There was hardily any time to himself except for weekends but it was alright. he was managing to do it all even though he might exhaust himself a little more than normal. But since Bambi was gone, he didn't really have anyone else to help him out. He had just returned from a jog and the thought of Bambi made everything hurt again. As he walked into his apartment, Loki and Mickey came running at him, little tails wagging happily. He closed the door and bent down and pet them for a moment. They would jump up and start licking him wherever they could and he couldn't help but chuckle. These two pups kept him from going insane from everything. He poured some food into their bowl then pulled out his cell when he felt it beginning to vibrate. He saw that he got a message from Autumn and he smiled happily. It had been a while since they last saw one another and he really wanted to see her. They exchanged texts until they figured out a good time for her to come over and see the pups. With all of that settled, he took out some clothes then he decided since he was done some jogging, that he should take a shower really quickly and freshen up a bit. As he showered, his mind roamed. He wondered why Bambi left and if he had done something. He figured that he did since things got shaky after she found out about those long gone sides of his personality. But this would mark the third time that's he been left without any warning. And honestly, he was tired of it. He was tired of giving his heart to someone and them just disappearing on him in the end. So he has been giving thought to just not dating or even falling in love again. He couldn't guarantee that he wouldn't fall in love again but he could try going without a lover for as long as he could. But his therapist sure enjoyed his new problem. As he finished his shower, he shook away the thoughts that were plaguing his mind. He quickly dried himself off and put on his new clothes which were a light grey tank top and blue jeans. That's when he heard the knock on his door and he smiled. "Hello? Hello? Excuse me? I heard I could find a very dapper gentleman and some puppies here?" The pups were already wagging their tails in delight at the new voice and Des chuckled as he walked over to the door. He opened it and leaned against the door frame. "Oh, I think that chap lives a couple doors down." But he couldn't keep a straight face. He laughed and pulled Autumn into a hug. "Hello, Autumn dear." He hug tightens, honestly having missed the feeling of a good hug. But saddingly to him, he pulled away and moved into the house and waited for her to move inside with the pups waiting to meet her. "Please, come in."Notes: the pupsthat shine for you |

"Oh, I think that chap lives a couple doors down," he said, leaning against the door frame. "Oh, I'm sorry then," she said with a grin, and before she could turn around and walk away, Des laughed and pulled her into a hug. "Hello, Autumn dear," Des said as his arms tightened around her. She wrapped her arms around him and hug tightly, "I missed you, Dapper dear." She missed being hugged tightly and more importantly, she missed Des. They'd both been busy with life and to finally see him again made her happy. He pulled away and moved into the house, "Please, come in." Autumn stepped inside, following Des. In the light of the apartment, she could see Des better now. "Hey," she said, poking his stomach, "You look good. You know, healthy. Not so worn down," she paused for a moment or two, just smiling up at him in pure joy, "I'm glad you're doing okay."
Autumn had been worried about Des. Somehow the news had gotten around to her and she heard that Bambi was gone. She didn't talk about it with Des. She didn't know why, because she really did care, but they were both too busy to talk. She never brought it up because she was afraid that it would hurt him to talk about it. Autumn didn't want to hurt Des. Just the idea of hurting Des made her upset. So Autumn kept quiet and hoped that he was doing okay; she had felt guilty about not talking to him about it, but she felt that it was for the better. And what would she say? When she had heard the news, part of her had wanted to run over that moment, knock on his door, hug him and promise him that she wasn't going anywhere. But what then? Could she really have just run over? Autumn feared that she would have been a nuisance, or that Des just wanted to be alone.
Autumn wanted to talk to Des properly; they needed to catch up. But before she could say anything more, she felt two little paws pressing on her leg. She looked down to see two husky puppies panting at her feet. "Oh my god!" she exclaimed, as she fell down to her knees to be at the puppies' level, "Des, why were you hiding them from me!" she laughed as they jumped up to meet her, covering her with kisses. She giggled and pet the two of them, and their little tails wagged frantically. Before she knew it, the puppies were climbing onto her lap, desperately trying to push her down. "Names," she said between her bursts of laughter, "I need names." Autumn loved them already. They had so much energy, it was impossible to be unhappy around them.
After a minute or two, she pulled away from the two balls of fluff and stood up straight. She tugged at her clothes in an attempt to straighten up. "Oh! Before I forget," Autumn fished a small pouch out of her back pocket, took Des' hand, and pressed the pouch into it, "It's a, ah, key to my dorm. If you ever need me, or if you're just coming over to hang out or something, you can just let yourself in. It's easier I think, and um, yeah." Autumn didn't know why, but she felt nervous giving him the key. Not because she didn't trust him with it, but because she was worried about how he'd feel about it. Was it weird that she gave him a key? She hoped not. But she loved Des dearly and he was like an older brother and best friend. Autumn wanted to give him the key not only because it would make life easier, but because she wanted to put her feelings of trust and care into a physical object. She was worried that maybe Des didn't know how much he meant to her, and Autumn felt she needed to prove it somehow. Silly as it was, she hoped she'd gotten her point across.

Perhaps to some, that showed that he was a terrible actor but that wasn't the case. He just had to smile whenever Autumn was around him. He just had to. It was that childlike freedom that he had thought he'd lost a long time ago. But in truth, it was slowly coming back to him. "Oh, I'm sorry then," Oh, he just couldn't keep a straight face at all. It was that childlike freedom he felt when he's around Autumn. It was the way he felt when he and Thor were still okay as children. "I missed you, Dapper dear." This made him feel rather special. It made him feel important. It was odd but he liked to hear people say that they missed him because it did make him feel important and it let him know that he was still cared about in some way. Love was always important to Desmond, it always has been and always will be.
Plus, hugs were always great to him. He just loved hugs, he wasn't all that sure why though. But to him, loving hugs wasn't a bad thing at all so he didn't care why. As long as he got hugs, he'd be at least a little bit happier. "Hey, You look good. You know, healthy. Not so worn down. I'm glad you're doing okay." He chuckled a bit when she poked at his stomach. And as he listened to her, he nodded. "Yeah, I've been trying to better myself a little bit. Get a bit stronger and healthier since I figure my normal pale and lanky self isn't too healthy at all." And he wanted to try and find ways to depend on himself instead of constantly running to others. He still felt like a burden that way and he wanted to end all of that. He didn't want to feel like a burden anymore. And he really didn't want to be a burden to Autumn and he hoped that he wasn't now.
For the first time in a while, he wasn't thinking about what all happened with Bambi. And it felt good not to think about it. It felt good not to hurt deep down. Having his mind off the pain will do him good, he just knew it. So he needed to do this more often. He needed to just let it go and forget for a little bit. "Oh my god! Des, why were you hiding them from me!" he chuckled as he watched Autumn and the pups. "I'm sorry. I was so busy and I've been having to make a schedule of all my work so that I don't overload myself with stress. But you're always free to come over and see them." He knew the effects of overworking himself, he would always be so tired and worn out. That and he just didn't want to risk anything. If he had worn himself out, he'd only just get bad again and that was something he's been trying to avoid.
But Des felt an extreme sense of happiness just watching Autumn and the pups for a moment. "Names, I need names." He chuckled and nodded, bending down to give the pups a pet. "Their names are Loki and Mickey. Loki has the blue eyes and Mickey has the brown eyes." He smirked as Loki clambered up his leg so he leaned in as the pup gave him some kisses on the cheek. After that, he stood and looked at Autumn. "Oh! Before I forget, It's a, ah, key to my dorm. If you ever need me, or if you're just coming over to hang out or something, you can just let yourself in. It's easier I think, and um, yeah." He blinked and looked down at the pouch in his hand and nodded. "Ah alright and thank you. I'll need to get another key but I'll give you one for the apartment so you can come by anytime to see the little ones. Plus, I'd love to have company."
Plus, he didn't want to be alone all that time. But he wasn't about to tell Autumn that he was so lonely. After all, who would want to hear that dreariness? He just wanted her happy because she deserved happiness, he knew that.
