Uncontrollably excited, actually. It had been a while since he had last seen Autumn and he was going to go visit her. Plus, he was free the entire day so they could spend it together and hang out. He was getting his Xbox ready so that he could head over as soon as possible. He had gotten enough money from going to school and he bought the Xbox and a few games to try and make himself more relaxed after rehearsals and things. But he always remembered when he and Thor had played video games for a bit. They had so much fun that day. He began to wonder if his brother would be around more often. But he remembered how much he missed up that day and he woulnd't blame Thor if he stayed away for good.
Yes, the thought made him depressed but he had to become less dependent on his brother. Des shook his head, forcing all the sad thoughts out for the moment. He didn't need to be sad when he saw Autumn. He pulled out his phone and sent her a text saying he'd be over to her dorm soon. With everything all packed up, he put on his leather jacket and headed out, stuffing his keys into one pocket and his cell into the other. He still had the text that contained her room number so he wasn't all that worried but he had never been to the high school before but he guessed that it wouldn't be too hard to find. As he walked, he sent a quick text to Bambi and told her that he'd be with Autumn for a while so that she didn't worry about him disappearing.
It only took him a little bit to figure out where he needed to go and he followed a group of girls to the dorm area. He looked at each door, seeing the numbers of the room. After another minute or so, he made it to Autumn's dorm and smiled. He knocked a couple times on her door, keeping the smile on his lips. "Autumn, it's Des." [/style] that shine for you |

Then her floor. Then she went back to her bed and kicked around a bit. She threw a pillow over her head and groaned loudly. She was bored. Okay, she wasn't totally bored. She was thinking about Skandar, the guy from the ice rink. She really liked him. He seemed like a nice guy right? She didn't know how she felt about him. It was weird. When she thought about him, she didn't feel uncomfortable… She just felt a bit odd. She needed something to take her mind off of him. Because it was driving her insane. How did this happen? She never really got stuck on guys. No, she wasn't stuck on a guy. She was simply… Thinking about a new friend. Right? Right. She was fine. She wasn't mulling over a guy, she was simply thinking about a new friend. That was totally normal.
She was about to loose her mind from having internal arguments with herself. And thinking about Skandar. And being bored. Autumn was about to go insane when her phone buzzed. She jumped up to see who or what it was. Des! She quite literally squealed with joy. "Hey Autumn dear. How about we have the video game date today? That is, if you're free and all." Autumn almost jumped up in down in joy. Des had the uncanny ability to always be there when she needed him to be. She quickly texted him back with her dorm address, because obviously he needed it if he was going to come over. Her phone buzzed again and Des said that he'd be there soon. Autumn was excited. Des had been very busy with theater and school, they barely had time to see each other. That made Autumn sad, but the fact that they were able to see each other today made up for that.
Pacing around her room, Autumn tried to entertain herself before Des came. She knew if she just sat there waiting, she would get bored and time would pass very, very slowly. Instead Autumn picked up her guitar, and started strumming a simple three chord pattern. Nothing sophisticated, just enough to put a simple melody to it and make up lyrics. Deciding that it wasn't entertaining enough, she began straightening up the place, to make sure that Des wouldn't think she was too messy. She placed her stuffed animals on her bed in a line, shoved her clothes into her closet, straightened up her boots by the door, and put the dirty dishes into the dishwasher. She had just put her guitar back on it's stand [next to her older, plain wood guitar] when she heard a knock on the door. "Autumn," a very wonderfully familiar voice said, "it's Des."
And Autumn squealed again. She went up to the door, and before opening it said, "Des? Who's Des?" she teased, then opened the door wide, "Dapper!" she beamed as she hugged him. It was good to see him again.

He hated that he was so busy sometimes because he really enjoyed hanging out with Autumn. He felt happy, truly happy. Something that didn't happen until he arrived here and met her and began dating Bambi. Before that, he had not felt all that happy. But everything bad in life tended to happen to him one after the other. He was still trying to get used to having a nice time but it was getting to him, slowly but surely. There was a little bit of fear that he would mess things up and wind up being all sad and alone again. And he didn't want that experience ever again. It had taken such a toll on him and messed him up more than he originally thought.
His mind went back to his brother as he stood outside the door. He honestly missed his brother. Maybe he should text him and see how he's been. A soft sigh escaped him as he closed his eyes slightly. A slight whimper wanted to escape but it wouldn't. He wouldn't let that happen, especially not in front of Autumn. He needed to be the strong one even though all he wanted to do was break down and cry sometimes. But he would let the secret slip and he couldn't afford to let that happen and risk Autumn's safety. He would rather die again than see her get hurt. So many people had already gotten hurt because of him and he didn't want to add another person on that list. Besides, he got the feeling that Autumn deserved happiness and he would help give her that to the best of his ability.
His thoughts were interrupted when he heard a familiar voice and he smiled. "Des? Who's Des?" He smiled even more and began to laugh a little before she opened up the door. His smile was wide and loving when she opened up the door to see him. She really did know how to brighten his spirits and he was ever so glad for that. "Dapper!" He laughed once more as she hugged him and he hugged back tightly. It felt so nice to hug her again. The only person he had been hugging for the past while was Bambi but he didn't mind she he absolutely adored to hug and cuddle with his love. "Hello dear," he said finally. He lifted her up a bit holding her even tighter as he took a deep breath. "God, I've missed you so much." After another moment, he lowered her back down to the floor, a wide smile on his lips. And he was feeling incredibly happy.

He was warm. And it was nice. Because honestly, she missed his hugs. She closed her eyes and let herself enjoy the moment. “Hello dear,” he said after a moment, but he held onto her. “Hi, Des,” she said, he lifted her up a bit, and she squealed and laughed. She buried her head into his shoulder. “God, I’ve missed you so much.” she smiled. “I’ve missed you a lot, Des.” He lowered her back to the floor, and she tugged at both of his hands, “Come on in!” she insisted as she pulled him into her dorm. She glanced around her room. The two beds, her stuffed animals, the two guitars, the bean bag, the TV. The kitchen off to the side wasn’t too clean, but it was manageable. She nodded. “Welcome!” she smiled a bit, “It’s kinda messy, but don’t worry I can totally take care of myself!” she insisted. She felt like Des was the older brother that was visiting her at school and was going to to insist she needed a roommate or something.
Autumn began rushing around him, “Er, I can take your coat, and um, the TV’s over there, and take a seat I guess. Erm, if you want to take off your shoes, you can really just leave them anywhere, and ah, do you want something to drink? Tea? Or maybe soda? I have both...” she was messy in that way. But she was just really excited that he was over. It had been forever since she’d had anyone over. “Désolée -- I mean, sorry, it’s been awhile since anyone has been over,” she said once she’d stopped freaking out. She laughed. She’d spoken French. An old habit of hers. She spoke a little French.
Her parents had been born in France. They both spoke fluent French. But they moved to Canada before Autumn had been born because they believed that schools were better over there. Which, wasn’t necessarily true, but that’s what they told her. Autumn always believed that they just wanted live in North America. It was a dream of both of theirs when they were younger. Not that they’d never told Autumn, but Autumn had heard bits of their rapid French when they thought she was sleeping. Multiple times they wondered if they should move back. But after awhile, they gave up. And maybe that’s how it all started.
Autumn pushed those thoughts out of her head. Des was here. There was no reason to be scared.

It was easiest for him right now because he was feeling so much happier now that he was with Autumn. And it had been agreed by everyone that Des needed happiness after all that's happened. He smiled and closed his eyes for a moment, letting this moment engrave self in his mind. He would let this moment replace a bad one from his past so it didn't hurt as much. “I’ve missed you a lot, Des.” He smiled, unable to stop the tear that fell. It wasn't a sad tear though. It was a happy tear, a very happy tear. Someone missed him and it made him feel a little more loved. And he longed to feel like this for so long. He hugged her tighter now. She still knew how to save him, even if she wasn't very aware of it.
“Come on in!” She grabbed his hands and he followed her in as she pulled him in. He glanced around and noticed all of her little things on her side of the room. It honestly looked like his room did when he was a kid. He could remember all the little stuffed animals that he used to have, ones that he would cuddle with when he was sad. His favorite was a black teddy bear that had a little super hero cape on it's back. It was one that Thor had given him and he treasured that thing so much. “Welcome! It’s kinda messy, but don’t worry I can totally take care of myself!” He smiled and shook his head. "Don't worry, dear. I don't mind it a bit messy. When I was a kid, my room was just like this. Oh and you still know how to save me and make me feel better."
He walked over to her, giving her another hug and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Thank you for that, dear." With that done, he took off his pack containing the game system and games. “Er, I can take your coat, and um, the TV’s over there, and take a seat I guess. Erm, if you want to take off your shoes, you can really just leave them anywhere, and ah, do you want something to drink? Tea? Or maybe soda? I have both..." He smiled and lifted his hand to ruffle her red hair a little. He knew that she must be a bit worried about what Des would think of the room. "Tea would be lovely, if it's not too much trouble." He took off his jacket and laid it atop his bag after getting the system out of it. “Désolée -- I mean, sorry, it’s been awhile since anyone has been over.” He smiled sweetly and shook his head, walking back over to her and placing a gentle and comforting hand on her shoulder.
"It's no problem, dear. Don't worry, okay?" He gave her a comforting smile before he went over to the TV with the system in hand. His eyes caught sight of the guitars and he looked at them in an intrigued manner. "Nice guitars. I didn't know you played," he flashed her another smile before he continued on, "I always wanted to learn to play but I never had time and my father never really would've liked me to as he would say 'waste my time' playing it." He turned back to the TV so that she wouldn't see that his smile had faded at the mention of his father. He let out a sigh before he got back to work setting up the game system, forcing every thought of his father out of his mind.

I don't mind it a bit messy. When I was a kid, my room was just like this. Oh and you still know how to save me and make me feel better," he walked over, hugging her again, and then kissed her forehead. "Thank you for that dear." She smiled up at him. She really did love Des. She hugged him and said, "Really? I thought you were doing all of the saving," she laughed and let go, then proceeded to walk over to her bed. "If your room used to look like this, then I want you to meet Dr. Hoot," she picked up her favorite owl stuffed animal, "He has a ph.D. in making people feel better." she walked over to Des, and tried to balance it on his head. She laughed again.
Des ruffled her hair a little, and she laughed. Des made Autumn feel happy. Even when he wasn't trying. Tea would be lovely, if it's not too much trouble," he told her. She knew he'd ask for tea. She laughed, "I knew it~ I'll get that started then." She was about to make her way over to the kitchen, when Des said, "It's not problem, dear. Don't worry okay?" she smiled and nodded. She felt calmer already. She stretched. She knew today was going to be great. She walked over to the kitchen and filled her tea kettle up with water. She pulled out two mugs: one with the British flag, another with cats. Two of her favorites.
She had just placed the kettle onto the stove when she heard Des say, "Nice guitars. I didn't know that you played." Autumn grinned. "Oh I do play," she said as she made her way over to her teal guitar, "Just a little. But I can play it better than I can play trumpet or violin. My ukelele's quite good, but I play guitar the best." He smiled before continuing, "I always wanted to learn to play but I never had time and my father never really would've liked me to as he would say 'waste my time' playing it," Des explained, ducking his head down to continue setting up the system. "Well, Autumn began as she picked her guitar up and began strumming a simple chord pattern, "If you teach me how to play video games, I will teach you guitar!" she exclaimed with a laugh.
Then, deciding that she may as well sing, considering she was playing anyway, she let out a few lines of lyrics, "I can see it in your face, the hope has gone away… But if you hold tight, shadows will be lost in the light. Because sometimes, fate and your dreams will collide…" She let her voice drift off, "I like that song a lot." she said after a moment, and she put the guitar back down. She made her way back to the kitchen to watch the kettle. "I have this special blend here. It's early grey, blackberry, and vanilla. Does that sound good?" she asked, reaching for the top cabinet.

He felt like he was part of a family again and it was something that he utterly missed. He had only really felt at home with Bambi after his family no longer really felt like a family. Along with the pups, he had a family now. One side of it was rather dysfunctional with him and his brother but what family didn't have a dysfunctional side? Still, he loved any part of his family with the exception of his father. He still couldn't forgive him for all the abuse. He took a breath and forced everything out of his mind. "Really? I thought you were doing all of the saving." He chuckled and shook his head with a small smile. "Only sometimes. But I need people to save me too because there's a lot of me that still needs to be saved."
"If your room used to look like this, then I want you to meet Dr. Hoot. He has a ph.D. in making people feel better." Des chuckled and nodded, looking at the owl plushie. "Ah I see. I had a plushie like Dr. Hoot once. He was a black teddy bear with a super hero cape. I called him Teddy. He was given to me by..." Des stopped, realizing that he was about to reveal Thor once again, "by an old friend." He let her place Dr. Hoot on his head and he slowly stood up, trying to balance him on his head. After a moment, Dr. Hoot fell off but Des caught him in his hands with a laugh. "I knew it~ I'll get that started then." He chuckled and gave a small shrug. "What can I say? I love tea." Maybe that was the British man in him. Then again, he hasn't had tea in a couple weeks because he had been so busy with everything.
He set Dr. Hoot down on her bed then plugged in the game system. It didn't take all that long to do really since he knew what plugged in where and how to fix up the tv. "Oh I do play. Just a little. But I can play it better than I can play trumpet or violin. My ukelele's quite good, but I play guitar the best. If you teach me how to play video games, I will teach you guitar!" He smiled and nodded, turning to face her with a smile. "That sounds fair to me. Let's do it." Then he stood and listened to her start to sing. And honestly, the song sort of fit him at least with what he heard her sing. He'd have to hear the rest of the song later to know if it really fit him or if it was just those few lines. "I have this special blend here. It's earl grey, blackberry, and vanilla. Does that sound good?" He smiled and looked over to her, just imagining what it must taste like.
"That sounds wonderful, thanks dear." Then it occurred to him. He had never shown her his wings so she probably didn't know what race he was here, not that it really mattered anyway. But he wanted to show her and they honestly needed to free every once in a while. "I've never shown you my wings, have I?" He asked, stretching a bit then walking a bit closer to her. "They're nothing really special but I thought you should see them at least once. Only if you want to see them, of course."

But I need people to save me too because there's a lot of me that still needs to be saved," Des replied. Autumn looked over at Des, and squinted at him. She began stroking an invisible beard, saying, "Curious, curious…" She paused for a moment and said, "I thought you were perfect!" she exclaimed. She grinned and bit her lip to suppress a laugh. What was she doing? She honestly hadn't felt this at home since, well, ever. Autumn liked to think that maybe this is what having an older sibling would feel like. And that was a nice thought, having an older sibling. Someone to hang out with, to share secrets with, to laugh with. Des was doing a perfect job of fulfilling the role of "older brother", whether he knew it or not.
"Ah I see. I had a plush like Dr. Hoot once. He was a black teddy bear with a super hero cape. I called him Teddy," Des began, and Autumn grinned at him. "Creative name," she teased before he continued, "He was given to me by…" Des paused and Autumn looked up at him quizzically. Surely, he remembered. He seemed to love Teddy, there was no way he'd forget who gave Teddy to him. "… by an old friend." He finished. She raised a skeptical eyebrow, but said nothing. It was probably something too serious for the lighthearted atmosphere, so she let it go. For now. Maybe she'd interrogate a different time. But her thoughts were pushed out of her head, as she laughed as Des attempted to stand up with Dr. Hoot on his head. He succeeded, but then Dr. Hoot bailed. Autumn laughed has Des caught it.
Autumn grinned when Des said he loved tea. She nodded, but said nothing. She smiled. Autumn liked to think she knew Des relatively well. Obviously she didn't know everything, but she knew that she knew some of the little things. And Autumn didn't know why, but that was important to her. The fact that she knew the little things. Because Autumn thought that sometimes, the little things were the most important things. They were the things that differentiated us from everyone else, and Autumn took pride in remembering them. From liking tea, to enjoying Norse mythology - Autumn kept a little catalogue in her mind. She never knew when it may come in handy.
Autumn had just measured out the tea leaves, when she heard Des say, "I've never showed you my wings, have I?" She turned around to face him. She cocked her head to one side, "Wings?" she asked, wondering if she'd heard him correctly, "You? You have wings? she pointed at him, [b["What wings?" |

He walked a bit closer to her, and she looked up at him curiously, "They're nothing really special but I thought you should see them at least once. Only if you want to see them, of course," he said. Autumn nodded quickly, "Yeah! I mean, sure, I just… It never occurred to me that I didn't know what you are. You see I'm -" she paused and grinned slyly, "Well let's see your wings first, then I'll show you what I can do." she wondered if he'd be shocked. "Are you an angel? It was such a comforting and loving thought really. But he began to think of his past and how perfect his family was. It was back before his father beat him and his mother and it was before Thor left. It was the only true happiness that Des had known in his short life. There were things that he wanted to fix though. They were all related to his brother but he wasn't sure if he even could fix it or just go back to ruining it all like before? He forced the thought out of his mind and turned his attention to Autumn. "Curious, curious…I thought you were perfect!" He chuckled softly at this. He had wished that he was as perfect as she might think of him as but he never could see it. He had been told many times by his mother or Bambi or his aunts that he was perfect but he didn't want to be perfect. He just wanted to be normal.
"Thanks for the compliment but I'm far from prefect." He had a saddened smile but he pushed away the sadness for the time being. Then he told her about Teddy but she was one of the few how knew about the teddy bear. Why give the bullies another little thing to use against him and make fun of him? But he kept that teddy bear close to him after all these years, never giving him up for anything. He cuddled the bear whenever he felt sad or alone when he was younger and he cuddled it when he wanted to remember Thor. And it was times like this that he actually had the old teddy bear around. But now, he just had to settle for cuddling a pillow or a fuzzy blanket, both of which were not as comforting as a teddy bear in all honesty. And he longed for anything really cuddly right now. "Wings? You? You have wings? What wings?" He couldn't help but chuckle aloud at that and he nodded and a smile on his lips.
"Yes I do. They're large, obnoxious things when they're out but luckily I can will them to appear or not." He was rather glad of that fact. He moved away from the kitchen a little so that the wings could have more room without knocking anything over. "Yeah! I mean, sure, I just… It never occurred to me that I didn't know what you are. You see I'm-Well let's see your wings first, then I'll show you what I can do." He nodded and closed his eyes, wincing a little as he willed his wings to come out. They were large and white and rather beautiful. But the only reason it really hurt was because he hasn't willed them to come out in a long while. He tends not to use them very much so he doesn't have any need of them to be out. "Well, you were right. I'm an angel although I still find it all rather odd. But yeah, here they are. Like I said, they're nothing really special." In all honesty, he would've wanted to be a genie or something but he was glad that he could control when they came out.
So in a way, he would still look normal unless anyone saw his wings at any one moment. He gave her a small smile then looked back at his wings. It did feel rather nice to have them fully expanded like this so he should probably let them out every so often. But with all that Des did, he fit the role of angel perfectly although he didn't really see it.

Des said with a small smile. Autumn just grinned. Who was prefect? There was a lot of irony in perfection - the idea of being "perfect" was so imperfect it just ruined the purpose. And Autumn didn't get it why anyone would want to be perfect - sure it was a nice compliment, but if you were perfect, how much fun would that be? You would get everything you ever tried to get, you would always know the answers to things, and there really would be nothing else to know or learn. And in Autumn's mind, that was boring. Why should you stick around if you're perfect? There's nothing to learn or figure out. And life, for Autumn, was about figuring things out. Learning and imaging and creating.
And nobody had to be perfect. People didn't love other people because they were actually perfect. People loved other people because they saw both the good things and their flaws, but knew there was something better in all of it. A lot of the amazing people Autumn knew weren't perfect. They were far from it. Even Des said so, but Des was one of Autumn's favorite people ever, and yet he didn't have to be perfect for Autumn to love him. Being perfect didn't seem to have it's benefits, in Autumn's mind. It just seemed to take the fun out of everything.
So Autumn simply replied, "That's okay. We all are." She offered him a smile. "There's this quote from Alice in Wonderland. Alice has gotten another one of her bad dreams, and she calls her father because she scared. She asks him, 'Have I gone mad?'" Autumn's smile grew; the next line was her favorite part, "Her father replies, "Afraid so, entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.'" Autumn smiled and left it at that. It really was one of her favorite quotes. It was actually one of her favorite movies and books. Wouldn't it be nice to go to Wonderland?
"Yes I do. They're large, obnoxious things when they're out but luckily I can will them to appear or not," he told her and she nodded. She was rather curious to see them. She imagined they're be absolutely gorgeous. And she was right. When they finally appeared Autumn couldn't help but gasp. They were snow white and really rather beautiful. "Well, you were right. I'm an angel although I still find it all rather odd. But yeah, here they are. Like I said, they're nothing really special," he said, glancing back at them. "On the contrary, those are just gorgeous!" Autumn gushed. She loved the way they look. And how suiting it was that he was an angel - her guardian angel, no less. She couldn't help it, she let out a laugh at the thought. How well the wings suited him.
"Well you see, I," she took a deep breath, focusing on her power, "I'm an angel too." She turned her back towards him, and tried to muster up all of the fairy magic she had. The idea sounded really stupid, like a children's book, but she did it all the same. She willed the wings to grow; she could feel the hot flashes of pain where the wings had sprouted on her back. She only grew the wings to be tiny wings; maybe two and a half feet long. It was all she could handle. She grinned at him. She had never grown wings before; she had been a ragdoll for a period of time, even grown fangs once, just to be a vampire. And though she could take on the appearance of another power, they never really worked. She couldn't fly with angel wings, or actually fall apart like a ragdoll. She could only play the part. What a shame.

And yes, he did think of his mother to be perfect but wasn't that how a child was supposed to think of their parents? His father was far from perfect though, very far from it. What perfect father would beat his own son? A pain filled his heart because he wasn't sure how his mother was. He left her alone with his abusive father and he hated it. But there was nothing he could do for her here. All he could do was hope that she was alright and go on with his life here. But he missed her a lot and wanted to see her again. But the only way he could do that is through his dreams. But at least it was something. Memories were better than nothing so he was happy to at least have something to remind himself of his mother.
"That's okay. We all are. There's this quote from Alice in Wonderland. Alice has gotten another one of her bad dreams, and she calls her father because she scared. She asks him, 'Have I gone mad?'Her father replies, "Afraid so, entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.'" Des smiles at Autumn and nods. He had read Alice In Wonderland when he was a child but hasn't really read it since then. "Yes, I suppose that's true." Des wasn't about to say how mad he felt he was so he just kept the smile on his lips. "But you know, I wish it was that easy to escape everything like Alice did. Just falling through a hole and going someplace wonderful, someplace better." He wished he could escape a lot of the time but he couldn't. And an escape from everything is what he really needed.
He watched her as she looked at his wings. The gasp was sorta expected because when would one really see wings coming from someone's back? Des was just glad they weren't out all the time. He glanced around just in case he knocked something over by accident and thankfully, he didn't. But they were still such odd things for him. He wasn't used to being an angel because he wasn't all that angelic he felt. He shook the thoughts from his head, not needing to feel any more confusion for the time being. He was here to be with Autumn and he needed to focus on that. "On the contrary, those are just gorgeous!" He blinked, surprised. "R...really? You think so?" He glanced back at his wings or what he could see of them. They did have a sense of elegance to them now that he thought about it.
"Well you see, I, I'm an angel too." At this, he was very shocked. He had only met a few angels here but he hadn't really gotten too close to them friendship-wise. So to hear that Autumn was one as well was quite amazing. He turned back to see her with wings. They were smaller than his by a lot but they suited her. "They look very nice, Autumn." He gave her a genuine and sincere smile at that. He willed his wings away, ignoring the slight little twinges of pain. he definitely needed to take them out more so that they didn't cause pain anymore. But at least he was in a better mood of sorts now.

Just falling through a hole and going someplace wonderful, someplace better." Autumn nodded. She knew the feeling. She had read Alice in Wonderland over and over again, watched the movie as well. She dreamed of being Alice, she wanted to be Alice so badly. Autumn agreed with Des, her life would have been so much better if she could've just jumped down a hole and had tea with some mad rabbits. She'd sooner fight the Jabberwock than go back to where she'd come from. But at the same time, she liked being where she was. Because even if Alice in Wonderland wasn't real, it least if gave her a temporary escape from reality. She was grateful for her books and the movies and the stories. They provided some solace when things got rough. "I know what you mean. My parents weren't the best, you know?" Autumn just sort of spoke without thinking. And she didn't sound sad either, she just stated it matter-of-factly, for it was a fact of her life. And she trusted Des. It wasn't like she had told him what her parents did, but she trusted him with her past.
Des looked surprised when she expressed how gorgeous his wings were. "R...really? You think so?" he glanced back at his pure white wings, and Autumn smiled. She took his hands in hers and laughed. "Of course! They suit you well!" Des turned to look at her wings, and he smiled at her. "They look very nice, Autumn." Autumn grinned mischievously. She could get away with a decent amount of things because of her own powers. "Well you see Des, I'm not actually an angel," Autumn willed the wings to go away, "I'm actually a vampire." Autumn chose the race that took the least amount of power to create, seeing as though she didn't have much energy left to recreate anything else. She felt the same searing pain in her gums as two of her front teeth grew sharper. She flashed a grin, showing off her new teeth. She laughed, conscious of where her teeth were - it hurt to bite your tongue as a vampire. "In all honesty, I'm actually a fairy. I can mimic the other race's powers, but they don't necessarily work. Like a can't fly as a demon or angel, and I can't fall apart like a true ragdoll. Things like that. But it's pretty cool, huh?"
Autumn let out a tiny squeak, startled by the sudden shriek of the tea kettle. "Come on Des, it's tea time!" she pulled him over to the kitchen and pulled the kettle off of the stove. "Tea is up there. I have a variety, so just pick whatever floats your boat!" She pulled down two mugs, one with a British flag in honor of her British friend, and her TARDIS mug. Which, she then realized was also very British. She laughed at the thought. Tea with a British man drinking out of British themed mugs. It couldn't get any better. Autumn personally liked her tea with a splash of milk, enough to lighten up the color. She also preferred sweet tea, so she pulled out the honey. For some reason Autumn preferred honey over sugar. She argued it tasted better, but that was beside the point.
"So," Autumn began, once they were seated at the table, "Video games, huh? What are we playing today?"

He had longed for an escape so that he didn't have to suffer any more beatings from his father. But he gladly took all the abuse to make sure that his mother was safe. Although he did wish that she didn't love his father so much that she believed that he was just in a little phase and that he'd get better soon. Des knew better than to argue with his mother. There were some ways that he did escape at least for a bit though so he did have some freedom. He had those little spots where no one knew where to find him and he read to escape that way. "I know what you mean. My parents weren't the best, you know?" He felt bad for her, he really did. "I know what that's like. My father was the terrible one so I guess you could say that I had it a bit easier than you."
He let out a chuckle but it sounded like a sad one. Of course, this wasn't really the sort of thing to laugh at but he was just trying to lighten the situation. "But if you ever want to talk about, I'm here to listen." And he would always be there to listen if she needed him. He knew the consequences of keeping stuff like that deep down. And they were terrible, terrible consequences indeed. And he wanted to keep her from all of that so he would go out of his way to listen to her and to be there for her when she needed him. He didn't want her ending up like him. He felt her take his hands in her's and he was still in slight disbelief. "Of course! They suit you well!" He gave her a smile and nodded. "Well, if you think so. I don't think I'll ever get used to them though." He was finally used to being here so the addition of wings were still something that was just so strange to him.
"Well you see Des, I'm not actually an angel. I'm actually a vampire." Des blinked in surprise as he watched her wings disappear and she smiled up at him with the new fangs. He wasn't able to get a word out before she started to laugh. "In all honesty, I'm actually a fairy. I can mimic the other race's powers, but they don't necessarily work. Like a can't fly as a demon or angel, and I can't fall apart like a true ragdoll. Things like that. But it's pretty cool, huh?" When he was finally able to understand it all, he gave Autumn and kind smile. "Yes, it's very cool. I think you may be the best fairies here." Yes, he knew some from school and such, but Autumn was his favorite. There was no doubt of that at all. he kept that happy and kind smile on his lips as he watched her for a moment.
Des finally glanced up and past Autumn when he heard the sound of the tea kettle. That meant that their tea was good and ready to be fixed now. "Come on Des, it's tea time!" He let out a chuckle as she pulled him into the kitchen. "Ah, alright." He let her lead him into the kitchen. "Tea is up there. I have a variety, so just pick whatever floats your boat!" He nodded and looked up into the cabinet and spotted all of her tea. He glanced around until he spotted some Earl Grey and he smiled. He pulled down the box of tea bags and he pulled one out for himself. This felt so familiar to him. Of course, he and his mother would always drink tea together. So it felt so nice to him. "You know, this feels really nice. It feels like I'm with family again." All those fleeting moments that Des treasured most in the world were moments when he felt that he was a part of a family.
"So, Video games, huh? What are we playing today?" Her voice brought him out of his thoughts. He actually had to remember what all he had brought over. "Well, I brought some first person shooter games. One's multiplayer so we can both play together. I also brought some fantasy games as well."

My father was the terrible one so I guess you could say that I had it a bit easier than you," Des said sincerely. Autumn tried to keep the sadness off of her face. After all, she wasn't supposed to be sad or upset - she was with Des, and her parents were far away. But part of her missed them, as any child would miss their parents. It's not that Autumn longed for the beatings, no, she was so grateful to be away from that. She missed the small moments, when just for a second, she thought they cared. Of course, that never lasted long, but there were always times when she thought she sensed an inkling of concern. Regardless, she didn't know if she agreed with Des. Even if both of her parents had been terrible [though only one beat her, the other didn't try to stop it], a bad parent was a bad parent. Autumn just smiled at Des, "Well, death was easy on me I guess. I'm here with you and that's what counts." Des chuckled a bit, but it sounded a bit sad. "But if you ever want to talk about it, I'm here to listen." Autumn smiled. She really appreciated it. "We can share our sad parent stories another time," Autumn tried to laugh a bit, despite the situation, "But it's happy time now!" she grinned at Des. He was the best thing that happened to her in death. By far.
Des smiled at her and she smiled right back, "Well, if you think so. I don't think I'll ever get used to them though." Autumn laughed a little. "It's alright. You have quite awhile to try," she joked. She knew death wasn't something she should joke about. In fact, it was quite serious. But somehow, Autumn's life got better when she died. It was harsh loosing her friends, but at the same time, she had new friends here. Plus, they knew her better, and she felt more connected to them. After all, they were stuck here for eternity. They may as well get along. Autumn watched Des' reaction to her change. She couldn't help but grin. Des looked at her for a moment or two, getting used to the idea of her as a fairy. He smiled eventually saying, "Yes, it's very cool. I think you may be the best fairy here." Autumn's face lit up, "Really? You think so?" she asked excitedly. She hadn't really met many fairies, so she didn't know if their powers were the same, or different.
Autumn picked her TARDIS blend. She poured in the hot water, added a splash of milk, and a little honey. She was mixing her tea when Des said, "You know, this feels really nice. It feels like I'm with family again." Autumn paused, taking in his words. A smile grew on her face, "Yeah. Yeah, it feels that way, doesn't it?" Autumn didn't know why, but she started laughing. She really did love Des, and it made her so incredibly happy that he thought they were family too. Somehow, it just clicked, and it felt right.
"Well, I brought from first person shooter games. One's multiplayer, so we ca both play together. I also brought some fantasy games as well." he told her. She nodded with excitement, "You need to teach me your FPS ways. I always get shot! It's so frustrating," she laughed, "I'm up for anything, really. As long as it's a video game, I'm up to try it."
