They told me that they can't understand the man I amSo why are we here talking to each other again?- - - - - - - - - - - The food at the college was much better than the slob that they served in high school, at least what Jason had tasted when he did stick around school for long enough to even go to lunch. He was usually off campus during the day and he rarely showed up to his classes so he made good use of the restaurant when he got hungry. The dining hall was all but empty at this point though, considering it was fairly late. Eleven at night wasn't too bad unless someone was worried about attending classes in the morning, which plenty of people were. Jason was not one of those people though, so he took his tray that had a sandwich, a bag of chips, and a soda over to the small stage area. Apparently the stage was used for people who wanted to show off their talents while having a meal with friends, which was fine and dandy so long as they were actually good.
Jason sat down on the stage, looking out at all the empty tables and chairs and smirked to himself. Some people just didn't know how to live, even though they were dead. There was so much more to do than to just go to school and worry about that. After opening up the bag of chips he started eating while humming. "Some nights I stay up cashing in my bad luck. Some nights I call it a draw. Some nights I wish that my lips could build a castle. Some nights I wish they'd just fall off" he started singing. There was no audience but it didn't matter, the song had been stuck in his head for a while so he thought he would just get it out.

She wasn't particularly tired, partly because she stayed up every night. She was trying to reform herself; you know, do work, attend classes. But who was she kidding? That would never happen. And it's not like she skipped every class… Just the ones she found boring. Which was all but two. Maybe three. Four if she was trying to push herself. But nahh. Wasn't worth it. She wasn't gonna get any farther in "life" here than she was back on earth. When she was living she had contemplated dropping out of college and following her music career with all that she had.
The way Ace saw it was something like this: if she set herself up with a backup plan, she wouldn't be committed enough. Because she knew is things went wrong, she could fall back onto "Plan B". But if she put everything into one thing, her music career, she would work harder. Because she knew if she failed, that would be it. There was no back up plan. It was a pretty good motivator she thought. Nobody liked failing. Nobody wanted to fail. Especially Ace. She liked getting what she wanted.
Ace sighed. There was no way she was going to fall asleep. And she was feeling hungry. So she may as well get up and get food. The college cafeteria or whatever it was [Ace never really went there] would suffice. She was not going to go through the effort of walking around late at night to find something that was open. However, she was going to go through the effort of making herself look somewhat presentable. She wasn't going to go looking like crap. Well maybe she was. She just didn't feel like putting in the effort. Not tonight anyway. It's not like she'd bump into anybody. So Ace just put her hair into a messy bun, pulled on her grey hoodie, grabbed her songwriting notebook, and put on some flip flops.
Quietly closing the door behind her, Ace snuck out and made her way to the cafeteria. She went over and bought two cookies because, goddammit, she was craving them. She was about to go back do her dorm, but then she heard a voice. He was singing, actually. One of Ace's favorite songs. "Some nights I stay up cashing in my bad luck," someone sang. Ace turned her head over to see someone sitting on the little stage. He looked like he was minding his own business, just singing for the fun of it. He had a good voice - a great one, actually. Ace grinned. "Some nights I call it a draw. Some nights I wish that my lips could build a castle. Some nights I wish they'd just fall off," Ace harmonized with the guy. And when he stopped, she continued, slowly making her way over to the stage. "But I still wake up. I still see your ghost, oh lord I'm still not sure what I stand for ohhh. What do I stand for? What do I stand for?" She looked up at him, expecting him to continue. Or at least say something.

They told me that they can't understand the man I amSo why are we here talking to each other again?- - - - - - - - - - - That wasn't one of the reason to sing though, for an audience. Sure it made for a great show and it got plenty of people to be interested but he didn't need an audience to know he was good, nor did he care for one at the moment. He liked to sing just because he enjoyed it. Dancing was more of his gig anyways and singing was just on the side. His head immediately shot up to the direction of another voice that was harmonizing perfectly with him. Who else had been in the dining hall that he had completely missed? Perhaps it was a newcomer. He grinned as his eyes met the girl, who appeared to have come for a late night snack seeing as how she was in her pajamas. At least they appeared to be pajamas to him. She continued to carry the tune even though he had stopped and he knew that she was good. Her pitch was just right and he knew she was good because she was able to harmonize. Most people couldn't do that, they could only handle doing the voice they were used to and anything other than that was too difficult for them.
"Most nights I don't know anymore... Oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh oh." he continued to sing after her hesitation. Jason figured she was unsure of what reaction he would have to her joining in singing with him, but in all honesty he didn't care. If anything it made his night more eventful. "You're pretty good." he said with a smirk, "I didn't expect an audience, let alone a duet with someone who can actually sing." Standing up he left his tray of food on the little stage and walked over to her. "The name's Jason." he offered, "I would ask what brings you here but I figure a late night snack is the reason for that. Are you new here?" Maybe she was new or maybe she wasn't, college was still new to him so he wasn't as familiar with the faces as he was in high school. He had a thing for remembering people by their faces and how they looked, which was why he was able to thrive in the club and party scene. It was easier to be friends with people you recognized than complete strangers.

She began harmonizing with him, "Oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh oh." She laughed when they finished. It was a good impromptu performance, she had to admit. It was fun to sing with someone else, especially someone with a good voice. Ace grinned at the stranger. This was just what she was looking for; someone to make her night more entertaining. "You're pretty good." the stranger said with a smirk. Ace let out a short laugh, "Please, I know," she smirked, "You're not too bad yourself, you know."
Ace wasn't self centered. Well she kind of was. But it came with being confident. Which, Ace was. She had plenty of confidence. It was how her mom brought her up, and thank god she did. It set Ace up to be prepared for those people who just didn't like her music. Some people hated her. She didn't blame them. But she didn't care. For a while Ace tried to please everyone; but soon she realized, you can't do that. No matter how hard you try, someone isn't going to like you. So Ace just stopped trying. If you liked her, you liked her. If you didn't, you didn't. Haters gonna hate.
"I didn't expect an audience, let alone a duet with someone who can actually sing." Ace grinned, "Well, I wasn't planning on this. Believe me, I would have dressed better." She let out another short laugh. She really would have dressed better. She believed in looking good, because how could be confident if you didn't feel like you looked good? The guy got up and walked over to her. "The name's Jason." She smiled at him, "Jason, huh? Ace," she paused then added, "My name's Ace."
She hadn't seen Jason around, but then again she hadn't been here long. She'd only gone out partying once since she'd gotten here. Which was actually really disappointing. But Ace had spent a lot of time settling down. "I would ask what brings you here but I figure a late night snack is the reason for that." Ace looked down at her cookies as if to agree with him. Are you new here?" he asked. Ace almost grimaced. Almost.
Yes she was new. Yes she had died. In the stupidest way, might she add. Drunk driving. Ace knew she shouldn't have, especially since she'd gotten her music career started, but she was drunk. How was she supposed to stop herself when she wasn't even thinking straight? "Yeah, I'm new here. Is it that obvious?" she joked, "How about you? Been here long?"

They told me that they can't understand the man I amSo why are we here talking to each other again?- - - - - - - - - - - Jason laughed as the girl admitting to knowing that she was good. That was just what he wanted to hear, someone with a personality. "Thanks." he replied, "I was almost at the point of losing sleep due to your opinion but I think I can rest easy now." He was joking and knew she would pick up on it, unless she was that conceited but he doubte that. From the way she appeared to him she seemed easy going. It was nice to hear that someone thought he had a good voice, only because he knew it wasn't his forte. "Yeah, I don't think your pajamas scream impromptu concert." he laughed, "It's nice to meet you Ace. I'm guessing that's short for something, unless your parents really liked cards." It wasn't bad of him to assume something like that, because he rarely met anyone named Ace, let alone a girl named Ace. There were always those random little stories about receiving such an interesting name though and he wondered if such a case applied to her.
"No, not really." he admitted, "I just have a thing for remembering faces and yours isn't familiar in the slightest." At least she was out and about unlike other new people who still decided to spend their time mourning their own death instead of actually doing something. "I've been here too long." he sighed, "It feels like ages but I finally finished the stupid high school here and now go to the college. I should have started off here since I died close to my graduation but this place decided to screw that all up." It was a bit of a joke to throw him back in high school once more, but he had made the most of it and had at least graduated. That had to count for something. "So where are you from Ace?" he questioned, "Care to join me with your late night snack or would you rather head back and crash?" He wasn't dumb enough to think that she had to talk to him now that they had just sang together. She was only dressed to get something quickly, not have a conversation with a stranger.

I was almost at the point of losing sleep due to your opinion but I think I can rest easy now." Jason joked. Ace laughed. The guy had a sense of humor. She liked it. "Oh I'm glad I could help." she grinned. She didn't mind this guy; some guys were just obnoxious. They thought that they were all that, they were so cool, so good looking. Given, this guy was cool and good looking. But at least he didn't act like he knew that and tried to flaunt it. "Yeah I don't think your pajamas scream impromptu concert." She laughed. They really didn't. Ace almost wished she'd dressed better. But honestly, she didn't think anyone would be up at this time. It wasn't that late, but people who usually stay home and eat at home. But Ace needed to stretch her legs.
"It's nice to meet you Ace. I'm guessing that's short something, unless your parents really liked cards." Ace grinned. "Oh yeah, my parents were huge card players; underground poker circles with the Russian mafia was their sort of thing," she said sarcastically, "But it's short for Grace." she added seriously. "I don't like it very much. It seems too… Nice. Clean. Responsible. Get what I mean?" she was serious. It was just one of those "good girl" names in her mind. Unless you were some ninja or member of the mafia, there was no way that name could sound badass.
"No, not really. I just have a thing for remembering faces and yours isn't familiar in the slightest." Ace smiled a bit. It was almost a relief to know she didn't seem new. It wasn't like it really mattered, but she wanted to come off as calm, cool, and collected. As if she hadn't just died and had the shock of her life. "Well. I'm sure you'll remember me." She winked. Jokingly, of course. If she'd been serious… Well, ew. Commitment wasn't a pretty thing. It wasn't a good thing. It was scary. It meant you were trapped within the bounds of someone else, it meant that you couldn't have too much fun. You had to worry about someone else, care about someone else. Your actions could ultimately affect the other person. It just wasn't for Ace.
"I've been her too long," Ace nodded, "It feels like ages but I finally finished the stupid high school here and now go to the college. I should have started off here since I died close to my graduation but this place decided to screw that all up." She smiled a bit. "That sucks. In truth, I just don't want to be here. I've already been here too long and I've only been here for a week or two." She had already lost track of time. What's the point of trying to remember how long you'd been here? You were gonna be here for the rest of your so called "life". No point in keeping track.
"So where are you from Ace?" Jason asked. Ace grinned a bit. She loved where she was from. She loved the city. "Wow, already moving onto the big questions," she joked a bit before continuing, "I'm from New York, New York." She grinned and checked his expression. "You know, I love New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made, oh, there's nothing you can't do, when you're in New York." She changed the lyrics to fit her situation. So what? It worked either way. "What about you? Where do you hail from?"
"Care to join me with your late night snack or would you rather head back and crash?" Ace smiled at the offer. It made her happy. For no particular reason. "Please, if I were out this late, I don't think I'm going to sleep soon. I'd love to join you."

They told me that they can't understand the man I amSo why are we here talking to each other again?- - - - - - - - - - - Jason laughed as Ace told of her parents getting into the underground poker circles with the Russian mafia. "That is a good backstory for your name. Be careful who you tell it to though, some people here are far too gullible." he replied. If his wings made him the devil then he could only imagine how far people would go to say that Ace's parents were actually in with the Russian mafia. "Ah, avoiding the sub-context of what your name should go with." Jason mused, "I get what you're saying. If anything I'm guessing you find yourself on the opposite end of that spectrum." Usually he heard of people using nickname's when their own name was difficult or too long to say so this was a new scenario. Ace just didn't want to have to deal with the association that could be made with her name. Too clean and responsible sounded like a warning of sorts, as if it was actually bad for you. What could Jason say though, he wasn't exactly a saint in any light but he didn't find his name to mean much of anything.
"I know I won't." he answered with a grin, "Trust me, no one wants to be here. You're at least out and about doing things. Most people shut themselves away for a long while before they dare to try and figure things out. I know everyone here would give anything to go back to living their life." Oh yes, Jason had spent his first couple weeks in the club drowning his sorrows in alcohol, which actually did take a lot. Thanks to his high tolerance of the stuff it took him much longer than most to find himself wasted. It made things easier though when he first arrived because he didn't have to think about a thing, rather he could just be there without a single thought. Eventually he got out of that rut, but it had taken a while. The two thoughts that never did leave involved his death never happening if only Benji had let him drive and that he'd give anything to be alive again. This wasn't where he was supposed to be, even he knew that. He was or had been too young to die. There were other things for him to do with his life.
"It is a concrete jungle." he smiled, "Everyone needs some Jay Z in their life. I'm from Vegas. I don't need a song for you to know about the casinos and 24 hour weddings, although I honestly can't think of one anyways." After she agreed to join him he made his way back over to his tray of food that he had left on the stage. "Come along then." he instructed in a joking tone, "Ah yes, sleep is for the weak. No one has much time for that now that we're dead anyways. It's amazing what we can put our bodies through here that won't actually affect us."

She had to admit, she really did like the Russian mafia backstory. It made her life seem far more interesting from the struggle it had been. "Really? Maybe I'll keep it." she joked. Then again, she could be anyone she wanted to be here. No one knew here. No one could say who she was before. Hell, she could make up an entire backstory like one of those undercover spy movies. God she loved those things. As if reading her mind, Jason said, "Be careful who you tell it to though, some people here are far too gullible." Ace laughed again. "I wouldn't know. I don't know anyone here," she said. She let out a low whistle. She needed to get out more and find some more people to hang out with.
"Ah, avoiding the sub-context of what your name should go with," he said. Ace nodded slowly. "Yeah, I never really was fond of my birth name." she grinned a bit. She didn't know what her parents were thinking. That she'd be innocent and pleasant? That she'd be a rule follower? Was that what they wanted? If it was, they never told her. Her mother and father had been really supportive of anything she did. Besides drinking. And cutting classes. But other than that, they totally encouraged her to follow whatever her heart desired. Even if it meant that she wasn't going to live up to her birth name. "I get what you're saying. If anything I'm guessing you find yourself on the opposite end of that spectrum." she cracked a smile. Did she? Or did she just not like her name? She hadn't thought about it too much. "I guess. I just think Ace suits me better," she paused before continuing, "I don't even know where it came from. But once it caught on, I never went back to Grace. I barely identify with that name."
"I know I won't," he grinned at her, and she grinned back. "Good," she replied with a small laugh. "Trust me, no one wants to be here. You're at least out and about doing things." she nodded. "I tried to get adjusted quickly. I don't like mulling over my death." that was all she wanted to say about that. The fact that she had died drunk driving made her upset more than anything. She had no one else to blame for her death. "Most people shut themselves away for a long while before they dare to try and figure things out. I know everyone here would give anything to go back to living their life." She nodded again. She could understand that. She almost did the exact same thing. And she really did long for her old life, but she knew she wasn't getting it back. "I don't see a point in feeling bad for loosing something you know you'll never get back." she stated simply. And it was true. No point in trying to get it back.
"It is a concrete jungle." he said with a smile. She laughed a bit. "Yet it is surprisingly organized. With all of the numbered blocks and such." Ace had gotten used to living in the city. And she loved it. "Everyone needs some Jay Z in their life. I'm from Vegas. I don't need a song for you to know about the casinos and 24 hour weddings, although I honestly can't think of one anyways." She nodded. She didn't think she could think of any songs about Vegas either. Well, actually she could. But it wasn't actually about Vegas, so she didn't bother singing it. "Come along then." he said as he walked back to his tray. She trailed behind him, then sat down next to him. She stretched out her legs. "Ah yes, sleep is for the weak. No one has much time for that now that we're dead anyways. Jason joked, and Ace laughed. "Sleep? Who needs sleep?" she grinned. "It's amazing what we can put our bodies through here that won't actually affect us." he continued. Ace was curious. She hadn't been here long, so she didn't know how it worked. "Like what? We can't die again, can we?" she asked.

They told me that they can't understand the man I amSo why are we here talking to each other again?- - - - - - - - - - - "Well not knowing anyone comes with the territory of being brand new in the Dirge. You'll get it figured out and find those who you can talk to easily. It's like high school all over again, with less cliques though considering very few have their best friends around still." Ah yes, best friends. Those were some of the people Jason could miss. It was difficult to say that he missed his family, which really only consisted of his parents, but they weren't always around but at least they supported what he wanted to do although they didn't exactly know what he was doing at all hours of the night. It was one of his best friends who got him killed though, which would always suck, but Jason could have prevented it. When Benji did arrive he'd give him hell for killing him and then go on being friends once more. There was nothing to be done that could reverse what happened now. "It's a good name, it suits you just fine." he nodded, "Mulling over your death can be a drag, almost killer if you like. You're right though, just feeling bad about something won't bring it back."
Of course he would know, he attempted to in his own way. The first few weeks at the Dirge were spent at the club with plenty of drinks to go around and around. He actually got himself completely wasted and that wasn't a pretty sight for someone who usually could tolerate anything and everything. After a while he got out of his slump though and moved on. That wasn't something he openly discussed that often unless asked. He was an open book when it came to questions, but upon first meetings he didn't think he should let anyone think he had died and become an alcoholic. "I never did understand those numbered streets. I can't find my way through that nonsense." he laughed, "Tell me actual street names like Jones or Parkway and I know right where I'm going. Give me numbers and I have no clue what's coming next." Even with his bit of traveling he was glad that he knew how to drive in Vegas. Maybe if he had grown up somewhere else that had the numbered streets he would understand it better, but that wasn't the point now.
"No dying again." he replied as he sat down on the stage, "Some people have a power to control others so that's a little strange when it comes to what our bodies can take. Other than that we can get hangovers still and get sick, but it's not as bad if that makes sense. I mean, it sucks but we won't die. I've only heard of a hospital around here but never seen it, and trust me I've been here long enough to know whether or not there is a hospital around. Other than that it seems like we can push ourselves to do more. I mean, you would think I'd be tired from flying around all day with this set of wings on my back but I'm not.It could be something like super powers because we're not exactly human but who knows."

You'll get it figured out and find those who you can talk to easily. It's like high school all over again, with less cliques though considering very few have their best friends around still." Ace nodded. She had to admit, she felt lonely. She was glad she at least had someone to hang out with right now. But she was worried about not having anything to do while she was here. She needed friends, she needed people to hang out with. She needed to know she wasn't alone and that things may have changed but she could still get friends. Being alone was something that she didn't handle well. Back on Earth she had always been surrounded by people. And sometimes it got a but intoxicating, but for the most part, Ace was happy to have the company. And now she had no one. Except for Jason. And her roommate Emerson. And that was an odd and foreign situation for Ace. She let out a puff of air and watched her bangs fly out of her face. "It's a bit odd, starting over. You build up so many relationships and friends. You make a life for yourself. Then poof," Ace made some sort of hand motion that barely represented "poof", "It's gone."
"It's a good name, it suits you just fine." She nodded with a grin. "Damn right. I'm not taking any of this 'Grace' shit. Ace is better," she laughed. God, she really didn't like that name. Ace sounded cooler, less wimpy. Because if there was anything Ace wasn't, it was graceful. Hell, she could be clumsy; her personality was about as graceful as a bull. She wasn't anything anyone would associate with grace. "Mulling over your death can be a drag, almost killer if you like," he said, and Ace let out a small laugh at his little play on words, "You're right though, just feeling bad about something won't bring it back." Ace smirked, "I know I'm right. But such is the way of life right? You win some, you loose some. Do what you can, sometimes it doesn't work out all too well."
Ace let out a low whistle, remembering her favorite city. She thought it was gorgeous. All of the hustle and the bustle, the city lights at night. True it could be loud and busy, but that's what Ace loved the most. All of the people. Sometimes it was fun just to watch people walk around and make their way around the city. Sometimes Ace wondered where they were going, what kind of life she lived. She wrote a song about it. Not that it was ever going to go anywhere now. "I never did understand those numbered streets. I can't find my way through that nonsense," she laughed with him and grinned, "Tell me actual street names like Jones or Parkway and I know right where I'm going. Give me numbers and I have no clue what's coming next." Ace laughed again. It's true, sometimes Ace felt actually street names would've worked better. But she could deal with the numbers just fine. She had to know her way around. "If we met on Earth, I would've gladly taught you. But I see no point in it now. Just treat the numbers like actual street names" she laughed again.
"No dying again." he said as he sat down on the stage. Ace sat down next to him. "Some people have the power to control others so that's a little strange when it comes to what our bodies can take," Ace was a bit surprised, she had to admit. Controlling someone else's mind? That was crazy, "Other than that we can get hangovers still and get sick, but it's not as bad if that makes sense. I mean, it sucks but we don't die. I've only heard of a hospital around here but never seen it, and trust me I've been here long enough to know whether or not there is a hospital around." She nodded, taking all the information in. She was glad she met someone who'd been around here. She be totally lost otherwise. "I mean, you would think I'd be tired from flying around all day with this set of wings on my back but I'm not. It could be something like super powers because we're not exactly human but who knows." Ae glanced over at his wings. She let out a low whistle. "I'm almost jealous. I got stuck with this shit power of falling apart. I need to learn to, quite literally, keep my shit together."

They told me that they can't understand the man I amSo why are we here talking to each other again?- - - - - - - - - - - "It's supposed to keep us on our toes then I suppose." he shrugged, "We have to be prepared to lose everything and start over once more, almost as if we're moving around a lot to new places. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that when we died we broke relations or something." Jason stopped himself there, he was thinking a little too much, which was rare for him but not necessarily a good thing. He didn't need to think about things as much as before, not that he ever really did. It was that kind of thinking though that could cause him to spiral and really get himself into a messed up place. There was no way any of this happened for a reason or had a correlation with the way things once were.
He laughed at her offer of teaching him the ways of the street numbers if they had known each other when they were alive. "That's kind of you, but you're right that there's no point now." he said, "Especially with these wings, I never have to worry about knowing the streets because I can see the buildings and signs from up in the air. That's never a problem." That was the strange thing about meeting people in the Dirge, often they were people he could have seen himself getting along just fine with while alive but they hadn't lived near him or even close. There could have been those chance encounters while alive, running into each other at some sort of even or place because he did get to travel with his parents, but that wouldn't have been the same as being in the same place with them all the time.
"Ah, a ragdoll." he sighed, "At least you don't get called the devil or anything like that. Besides, falling apart can't be that bad, not when you're great at stitching others up. That's a crazy ability to have right there that I've seen in action once or twice. You're the person I'd want to have around if I were to attempt to do something reckless and stupid so I wouldn't have to worry about a stupid hospital." Being anything in the Dirge that wasn't just human was difficult with it's pros and cons. Some aspects were the worst while others were pretty great. The fact that everyone was dead had to be the worst part though. A person just had to get used to what they were eventually, whether they liked it or not.
"So, what have you done so far here?" he questioned, "I mean, I figure you've been to school but what have you been doing besides that? Into partying? Drinking? Just hanging out? Something athletic? I mean everyone has something here that keeps them sane."

We have to be prepared to lose everything and start over once more, almost as if we're moving around a lot to new places. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that when we died we broke relations or something." Ace let out a quiet sigh when Jason finished explaining. "It's pretty harsh starting out here. Especially coming into the new world as some form of freak," Ace paused for a second, "Ah, well, maybe it's for the better." and she left it like that. Ace didn't mind talking about deep, philosophical things. Sometimes she was even willing. But it was usually better to stay away from those kinds of things upon a first meeting. However nice and cool your company seemed to be.
Jason let out a laugh and Ace grinned back, "That's kind of you, but you're right that there's no point now. Especially with these wings, I never have to worry about knowing the streets because I can see the buildings and signs from up in the air. That's never a problem." Ace looked over at his wings and let out a low whistle. She had to admit, they were pretty cool. "I'm just saying, if we miraculously get a second chance or something, I'm your gal. New York is my home. But demon wings? Damn, I'm actually jealous right now. Those are pretty badass." Ace didn't know much about the freaky powers here, but she was pretty sure being a ragdoll wasn't the best thing to get. In fact, it may be the worst thing ever. But she couldn't change, so she didn't see a point in complaining. But being a demon must be fantastic.
"Ah, a ragdoll," Jason said with a sigh, "At least you don't get called the devil or anything like that. Besides, falling apart can't be that bad, not when you're great at stitching others up." Ace laughed, remembering the first time she fell apart, "Baby, you'd better believe that I'm not easily scared. I'm not weak. But the first time my arm fell off, I screamed like a little girl." She laughed again. It was a pretty scarring experience [literally], but she soon got over it. Jason continued, "That's a crazy ability to have right there that I've seen in action once or twice. You're the person I'd want to have around if I were to attempt to do something reckless and stupid so I wouldn't have to worry about a stupid hospital." Ace grinned. He had a point. She'd gotten crazy good at sewing things up. She was even able to apply it to sewing up clothes. "Don't count on it, I'll probably be next to you about to do the same goddamn stupid thing." She grinned over at Jason. She was up for anything, to be honest. She refused to let her time go to waste.
"So, what have you done so far here?" Jason asked. That was a fair question, but to be honest, Ace hadn't really had time for anything. "I mean, I figure you've been to school but what have you been doing besides that? Into partying? Drinking? Just hanging out? Something athletic? I mean everyone has something here that keeps them sane." Ace nodded a bit. She had finished settling in and had signed up for classes. That was a start. "I've been in school. However, I haven't had time to check out Dirge completely. I haven't been partying yet. You'll have to show me around."

They told me that they can't understand the man I amSo why are we here talking to each other again?- - - - - - - - - - - To have his wings be called badass was a first, or perhaps a second if his own opinion counted. Jason didn't mind his wings at all, even from the beginning. He enjoyed having them although they were a bit of a hassle at first. He just grinned at the compliment knowing that she meant it. As she mentioned her arm falling off he couldn't help but let out a laugh, not mocking her but finding her explanation to fit with her personality thus far into their first encounter. "I think anyone can understand screaming at a limb falling off. I can't believe your entire arm came off though. Nothing set it off did it? I can only imagine first arriving here and then having an arm fall off, it's like a cruel joke from death." he said. That would have been traumatizing if nothing else, how was someone supposed to react to waking up after dying only to have their arm fall off? Jason hadn't even noticed his wings at first, instead he spent his time trying to figure out why he had a headache and where the hell he actually was.
"Well that doesn't do me any good." he teased as she admitted that she would be next to him after performing the same reckless behavior, "I suppose we'll have to find another rag doll that will follow us around and then fix us up when needed without participating in our fun." With her response mostly consisting of only school and still needing to check out the party scene Jason figured she hadn't had time to do much of anything else in the way of being involved, as much as a dead person could anyways. "When it comes to partying I have you covered." he offered, "There's only one good club to go to and plenty of house parties but you have to be wary of some. Sometimes there are bonfires at the beach and those can be great, so long as you don't pass out in the sand because you'll wake up as a sandman, or sandwoman in your case. You care much for dancing or are you in for the drinking and socializing?"

"You laugh now pretty boy, but if your arm fell off, I'd be the one who could sew it back on," she teased. Ace had never bothered to learn how to sew things together. Every time something of importance ripped [ex. her favorite shirt, sweater, etc.] she just dropped it off at a tailor's and picked it up later that day. She felt no need to learn how to do it, as long as someone else was there to do it for her. Now, she could sew almost anything. Sewing up bodies was kind of vile and really rather disturbing the first few times, but she eventually got used to it. It helped that she didn't bleed. That would make everything more difficult. "I think anyone can understand screaming at a limb falling off. I can't believe your entire arm came off though. Nothing set it off did it? I can only imagine first arriving here and then having an arm fall off, it's like a cruel joke from death," Jason said. She laughed. "Turning us into monsters is a cruel enough joke. But sweetheart, I was just in the help center or whatever it was, and BAM! From shoulder down, it just fell off. The woman just kind of looked at me like, 'What's the big deal?' It was just so... Ugh. Unelegant?" she laughed.
"Well that doesn't do me any good," Jason teased, and Ace grinned. "It doesn't help me either, baby." But it was just in her nature to challenge herself and do anything that seemed dangerous. Don't get her wrong, it wasn't like she was jumping off buildings every five seconds; she just didn't mind doing stupid reckless things when she wanted to. "I suppose we'll have to find another rag doll that will follow us around and then fix us up when needed without participating in our fun," he suggested. Ace smirked, "Easy enough. We can either intimidate or charm. Take your pick." Ace could easily do both. Maybe charm would be easier, but she could intimidate people. Occasionally.
"When it comes to partying I have you covered," he offered. Ace grinned at him. "You and I. Is it a date?" she teased. "There's only one good club to go to and plenty of house parties but you have to be wary of some," Ace nodded, and Jason continued, "Sometimes there are bonfires at the beach and those can be great, so long as you don't pass out in the sand because you'll wake up as a sandman, or sandwoman in your case." Ace laughed at that part. That would not be good at all. But knowing her, that was likely to happen. "You care much for dancing or are you in for the drinking and socializing?" Ace thought about it. "Give me a bit of booze, and I'll dance. Drinking is a must. Socializing? Eh. People can be assholes at clubs, but hey, I'm game for trying anything."
